In 1998 gas deregulation started in the state of Georgia. The Atlanta Gaslight Company are able to store and distribute natural gas in its facilities, allowing marketers to sell natural gas to consumers.
However, this is not across the whole state. Natural gas deregulation is exclusive to consumers that are located in the Atlanta Gas Light’s Company’s (AGLC) service area. Anyone residing in other areas are unaffected by the deregulation changes.
All marketers in Georgia are required to be certificated by the Commission. They must be financially and technically able to sell gas in the state and customers can view all complaints that are made against the different companies.
